Explore SPARC, a Drupal-based solution for optimizing solar energy use at home by scheduling high-energy appliances based on forecasted yields. Using the ECA module as the integration backbone, SPARC leverages InfluxDB for data storage and Discord for schedule sharing—an affordable, open-source approach to smarter energy management.
SPARC is a Drupal-based initiative designed to maximize self-consumption of renewable energy by scheduling high-energy household appliances based on projected solar yields. This session will guide attendees through a practical approach to home energy management using open-source tools instead of costly smart devices or proprietary cloud services.
By downloading solar yield forecasts, SPARC intelligently schedules energy-intensive appliances like dishwashers and tumble dryers to run during peak generation times. All metrics are stored in an InfluxDB database, with daily schedules automatically published via Discord for easy access and household coordination.
At the core of SPARC’s functionality is the ECA module, a powerful engine that connects Drupal with various data sources, automates scheduling, and orchestrates notifications. This session will dive into ECA’s role as the integration backbone, showcasing how it bridges multiple systems to create a cohesive, semi-automated energy management solution.
Attendees will leave with insights on how Drupal can support a more sustainable, self-sufficient lifestyle, leveraging data to make renewable energy more accessible for everyday households.
Hi 👋, my name is Jasper and I am Belgian web developer who lives in Nijlen, a small town in the Kempen. My main professional focus is Drupal and everything that's related to it. I maintain a couple of small modules but I'm also working on bigger items like ECA or AI.
